Thomson Financial Deal Info included in Firm360 competitive intelligence

Firm360 Thomson/Findlaw are about to announce a new competitive intelligence service for professional firm marketers called Firm360, which not only includes information based on decided case law, but also includes deal and M&A information from Thomson Financial.

Up to now legal marketers have had limited choices in competitive intelligence.  But law firms may get a competitive advantage by waiting for Thomson/Findlaw's Firm360, will be announced next week.  It was debuted at the Marketing Partner Forum in January under a different name.  Firm360 searches the West law database of reported cases that have already been decided, so that marketers get client intelligence, market intelligence, geographic information, competitive intelligence and legal trends.  This would be used in strategic planning for new practice areas, industries, offices, rates, trends and financial goals and lateral hires.

The beta version was easy to use.  You got two choices: "Learn More About Clients" -- which you could search by company or industry and "Learn More About Competitors" and simply type in your own or another law firm name.  The results are organized by legal topic, legal role, law firm representation, attorney representation, federal court, state court, judge appearances.

I'll be writing about the service more in detail in Law Office Computing magazine.
