Third Annual "MLF 50" Competition Open for Entries
Once again, it is time for law firm marketing and communications departments send in their entries to win a spot on coveted MLF 50 — The Top 50 Law Firms in Marketing and Communications. Last year, more than 125 law firms entered.
Good news: The deadline for submissions has been extended to October , 2007. All submissions should be sent via e-mail only to Elizabeth Anne “Betiayn” Tursi, Editor-in-Chief, Marketing The Law Firm at elizabethtursi@aol.com.
In keeping with past practice, firms of 100 attorneys or more are eligible to compete. The criteria for selection remain the same with two notable changes: Submission essays can be up to 1000 words. And this year, particular emphasis will be placed on those firms that have embraced the use of technology to achieve their marketing, communications and business development goals.
To see the prior winners, visit "Top 50 Law Firms in Marketing and Communications" and "Duane Morris Marketing Program Ranked No. 1" on the LawMarketing Portal.
The submissions will be judged on:
- Marketing strategy
- Results
- Marketing department staffing
- Communications/public relations/media relations strategies
- Commitment
- Advertising and visual communications
- Technology
- Client service programs
- Outreach
I track this blog for a number of reasons. First of all, I am surrounded by lawyers and work hand in hand with a law firm that takes thier marketing very seriously. Secondly, I studied marketing in school and love to learn how it works in a variety of industries. So I wanted to say that I am a fan. Secondly, I wanted to say I think one important way of marketing law firms that goes unnoticed by the majority is getting the names of thier lawyers out into the public. An easy way to do this is by having them give lectures and public appearances. I have worked personally with a number of lawyers to record lectures. This helps their name get picked up on google searches and gives good press. Thanks again.
