As Robert put it at the recent Summit on Law Firm Marketing & Business Development (sponsored by the American Conference Institute): "A marketing manager handles all the awareness type of activities, designed to reach a target audience. Where a business development manager takes over is when a suspect becomes a prospect – where we identify a person with specific legal need. Business development managers focus on present and future expectations. The two kinds of managers work so closely together that the attorneys don’t know the difference. I just want them to call on us."
